SC Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar remporte le tournoi 2023 de Waterpolo U11 après sa victoire contre Lausanne (6-4)

Le tournoi final du championnat suisse U11 de Water-Polo s’est déroulé à Zurich (SSA Riedtli) le samedi 13 mai 2023 en présence d’Elena Maringelli, la co-directrice sportive du Comité Swiss Aquatics Water Polo et devant un public nombreux et enthousiaste. C’est le tenant du titre Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar qui a remporté le titre après sa victoire 6-4 contre Lausanne Aquatique. SM Zurich prend la troisième place du tournoi et remporte la médaille de bronze.

En début de journée, une équipe de Bâle bien placée a battu SC Winterthur dans le premier quart de finale. Menant toute la rencontre, SV Basel a remporté le match sur le score de 6 à 2. Dans l’autre quart de final, SM Zurich a battu Carouge Natation 5-3 lors d’un match accroché, pour s’adjuger la dernière place en demi-finale.

L’entame de la première demi-finale opposant Lausanne à Bâle a été très équilibrée, avec un score de 2 à 2 à une minute de la mi-temps. Lausanne a marqué juste avant la fin du second quart-temps, pour mener 3 à 2 à la pause. La seconde mi-temps a quant à elle été à sens unique, Lausanne marquant quatre buts additionnels pour remporter le match sur le score de 7 à 2. L’autre demi-finale mettait aux prises Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar et SM Zurich. Dans un match à rebondissements, le tenant du titre a d’abord ouvert la marque, mais Zurich a égalisé puis marqué un second but pour mener (2-1). Aegeri-Aquastar a égalisé, puis Zurich a repris un but d’avance sur penalty (3-2), avant une nouvelle égalisation (3-3) dans un troisième quart-temps dominé par les défenses. À une minute trente de la fin du match, Aegeri-Aquastar a marqué le but de la victoire (4-3), Zurich ne parvenant pas à trouver le filet avant le coup de sifflet final.

Lors des matchs de classement, Winterthur s’est d’abord imposé sur le fil sur le score de 4 à 3 contre Carouge, en parvenant à marquer deux fois lors des 90 dernières secondes du match alors qu’ils étaient menés 3 à 2, trouvant le filet pour le dernier but à seulement 17 secondes de l’issue du match. Avec cette victoire, Winterthur s’est adjugé la cinquième place du tournoi, la sixième revenant à Carouge. Le match pour la troisième place a vu une équipe de Zurich dominer la première mi-temps contre Bâle, pour mener 5-0 à la pause. La seconde mi-temps a été plus équilibrée, chaque équipe marquant par trois fois, pour un score final de 8 à 3 pour SMZ. Zurich remporte ainsi la troisième place du tournoi, et Bâle se classe quatrième.

Pendant la finale jouée dans une atmosphère surchauffée, c’est Lausanne qui a pris la meilleure entame, marquant les deux premiers buts, mais Aegeri-Aquastar a réduit la marque à la toute fin du premier quart-temps (2-1). Lausanne a marqué à nouveau en premier dans le second quart-temps (3-1), mais Aegeri-Aquastar est parvenu à inscrire les trois buts suivants, pour renverser le match et prendre un but d’avance à la mi-temps (4-3). Tout était alors encore possible pour les deux équipes. Dans un troisième quart-temps très fermé et dominé par les défenses, Aegeri-Aquastar a inscrit un but pour consolider son avance (5-3). Un nouveau but du tenant du titre a encore creusé l’écart en début de quatrième quart-temps (6-3), avant que les Lausannois ne réduisent d’écart (6-4), score final du match.

En fin d’après-midi, Elena Maringelli a remis les médailles et a félicité les joueurs. Félicitations au Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar qui conserve son titre et aux autres équipes de cette magnifique finale, et rendez-vous l’année prochaine !

SC Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar wins the 2023 U11 Waterpolo tournament after beating Lausanne Aquatique (6-4)

The final tournament of the Swiss U11 Water Polo Championship took place in Zurich (SSA Riedtli) on Saturday, May 13, 2023 in the presence of Elena Maringelli, the co-director of the Swiss Aquatics Water Polo Committee and in front of a large and enthusiastic audience. The defending champion Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar won the title after their 6-4 victory against Lausanne Aquatique. SM Zurich came third in the tournament and won the bronze medal.

Earlier in the day, a well-organized Basel team defeated SC Winterthur in the first quarterfinal. Leading throughout the entire game, SV Basel won the match with a score of 6-2. In the other quarter-final, SM Zurich beat Carouge Natation 5-3 in a close match, to claim the last place in the semi-finals.

The start of the first semi-final between Lausanne and Basel was very even, with a score of 2-2 with one minute to go before half-time. Lausanne scored just before the end of the second quarter to lead 3-2 at the break. The second half was one-sided, with Lausanne scoring four more goals to win the game 7-2. The other semi-final pitted Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar against SM Zurich. In an exciting match, the defending champion opened the score, but Zurich equalized and then scored a second goal to take the lead (2-1). Aegeri-Aquastar scored to tie the game (2-2), then Zurich regained a one-goal lead on a penalty (3-2), before another equalizer by Aegeri-Aquastar (3-3) in a third quarter dominated by the defenses. With a minute and a half left in the game, Aegeri-Aquastar scored the winning goal (4-3) as Zurich failed to find the net before the final whistle.

In the classification matches, Winterthur first won 4-3 against Carouge, managing to score twice in the last 90 seconds of the game as they were down 3-2, with the last goal scored with only 17 seconds left. With this victory, Winterthur took fifth place in the tournament, with Carouge ranking sixth. The match for third place saw a Zurich team dominate the first half against Basel, to lead 5-0 at the break. The second half was more balanced, with each team scoring three times, for a final score of 8-3 for SMZ. Zurich thus secured the third place in the tournament, while Basel finished fourth.

During the final game played in a heated atmosphere, Lausanne got off to the best start, scoring the first two goals, but Aegeri-Aquastar reduced the score at the very end of the first quarter (2-1). Lausanne scored first again in the second quarter (3-1), but Aegeri-Aquastar managed to score the next three goals to turn the game around and take a one-goal lead at halftime (4-3). At that point, everything was still possible for both teams. In a tightly contested and defensively dominated third quarter, Aegeri-Aquastar scored a goal to consolidate their lead (5-3). A new goal from the defending champion increased the gap at the beginning of the fourth quarter (6-3), before Lausanne reduced its deficit (6-4), final score of the game.

At the end of the afternoon, Elena Maringelli presented the medals and congratulated the players. Congratulations to Frosch Aegeri / Aquastar who defended their title and to the other teams of this great tournament, and see you all next year!
